11th June 2009
Dear Parents,
I write to inform you of the exciting news that the contractors who are building our new sports hall will be on the school site from Monday 15th June 2009. The build is expected to be completed by Easter 2010 as the estimated build time is 35 weeks. Therefore, on Monday the pavilion, built by the Old Boys, will be demolished and a road made through to the Lower Field.
The School is much indebted to Mr Mangham, who has overseen the development and to Mr Roger O’Neill, the Chairman of Governors who has given enormously of his time and expertise. Both have committed tremendous time and energy to the project in different ways to ensure the pupils in the school will benefit from excellent sporting facilities for many years to come. In addition, we thank the parents who have generously given their advice and contributed to the design and the structure of the sports hall, ensuring it is of the highest possible standards of construction and that it fully meets the needs of our students.
It is most important, for health and safety reasons, for pupils to keep well away from the building site and construction access areas at all times. Rose Walk will be closed off as will the back of the main field and the whole of the lower field.
As far as possible games will continue as normal, although changing facilities have yet to be finalised.
With best wishes.
Yours sincerely,
Peter Smart
Acting Headmaster
