Dear Parent(s),
WALLINGTON’S NEW HEADTEACHER
I write on behalf of the Governing Body, to inform you that after the most rigorous selection process we could devise, we have found and appointed our new Headteacher.
Starting back in early September we appointed a Governor panel to carry out the recruitment process and we engaged the services of the leading specialist educational recruitment company to assist us. By early December we had a most impressive list of applicants; all deputy Heads, some from prestigious nationally recognised Grammar schools.
Over two days last week, we submitted the last four most impressive candidates to a brutal series of exercises designed to test their experience, knowledge, judgement, skill and ability.
At the end of the two days, the ‘last man standing’ and therefore Wallington’s new Headteacher is, Mr. Peter Smart.
In the end, it really doesn’t surprise me that we found our new Head so close to home! Peter has always proved himself totally committed to Wallington, and his mastery of his craft has always filled all that know him well with admiration. His passion for Wallington and for the success of its students has always been absolute.
Nine months ago I asked Peter to adopt the onerous task of Acting Head. Since then, he has achieved far more than we could have reasonably expected. His courage, tenacity and his utter determination to advance the wellbeing of the school and its students has been awesome.
Peter clearly deserves the Headship and I am delighted that he now has it.
I have no doubt that Peter will be a great Headteacher and that Wallington will flourish under his Headship and I would ask you all to celebrate his appointment – and pat him on the back when you see him next.
Yours sincerely,
Roger O’Neill
Chairman of the Governing Body
