THE RULES 

1)         WHAT IS FANTASY FOOTBALL 

Ever thought about being a football manager? Now's your chance.

WCGS PTFA 2006 World Cup Fantasy Football invites you, the manager, to select a team of eleven football players from the pool of players from the 32 countries participating in this summers World Cup competition.  The players you choose score points for you depending on their performances on the pitch throughout the 2006 World Cup competition.

Do I need to know anything about football?  No, in fact, experience has shown that lack football knowledge can be an advantage.  Pick a team randomly and have fun watching your team out-perform classmates and friends, teachers, parents and siblings, etc.  Get them all involved.

2)         SCORING POINTS

Players score points for:	Players lose points for:
o       scoring goals	o       for red and yellow cards
o       setting up goals (called Key Contributions)	o       missing penalties
o       preventing goals - for goalkeepers and defenders	o       goals conceded

3)   PRIZES! PRIZES! PRIZES!

o       1st Prize - manager with the highest number of points at the end of the 2006 World Cup	25 % of all competition fees
o       2nd Prize - manager with 2nd highest number of points	10 % of all competition fees
o       3rd Prize- manager with 3rd highest number of points	4 % of all competition fees
o       Manager with highest points at the end of Round 1	2 % of all competition fees
o       Manager with highest points at the end of Round 2	1 % of all competition fees
o       Most original/topical team name entered by 6 Jun ‘ 06	£10.00

4)         PICKING YOUR TEAM

WCGS PTFA 2006 World Cup Fantasy Football gives you the chance to put your football management skills to the test. There is no spending budget for the 11 players in a team but the number of players you can select from any one country competing in the 2006 World Cup is limited to 2.  Teams entered in any other combination of players will not be scored.

The only permitted format is the 4-4-2 formation (see below).  Teams entered in any other combination of players will not be scored.

5)         TRANSFERS - there will be no transfers

Therefore, if a player that you have chosen does not play, either because:

o       he is crocked

o       suffers a loss of form and so is not selected

o       is suspended, or

o        his team is eliminated from the competition

then too bad. 

That’s down to your:

o       shrewd judgement

o       the clarity of your crystal ball or

o       just as likely, sheer luck!
