18th December 2006

Dear Parents,

I write as is customary towards the end of term to wish you and your family every good wish for Christmas and the New Year.

We say goodbye to Ms. Ramadharsingh, who joined us in September to teach Economics and Business Studies for this term; we were most grateful that she was able to take up the post at the last moment before the beginning of term.  A new Head of Department will take up the post in February, after Sixth Form examinations conclude at her present school.  In January, the groups will be taught by Mr. Russell and Miss Davies, both former Heads of Economics at the School.

Interim or Progress reports went out to all students in the last few days.  Please take the opportunity to reflect on the report with your son or daughter who should resolve to do better still next year.  Except for Year 7, Parents’ evenings will take place next term.  Details of these and other events are included in the Spring Term Calendar, which will be distributed on the first day of next term.

I was extremely pleased by the most enjoyable Christmas Festival last Friday, which was so well attended.

Pupils will be dismissed tomorrow after the Final Assembly.  For Year 7 , Year 8, 9MB, 9MY and the Upper Sixth, this should be after 12.20; and the remainder of the school at about 1 p.m.

The new term begins for all pupils on Thursday, 4th January.

Headmaster.
