The Return of Ruskin.

| The Ruskin Year 7 Rugby Team |
Having been cooped up for too long in the drama room for House Assemblies, Mr Grindrod roused the troops early in the year with the challenge to ‘take Ruskin back to the Hall’ where Cock House Cup winners laud it over other houses. And did we do it? Of course we did.
A sterling effort by all year groups ensured we came out on top at the end of the year. What was remarkable was that in no house competition did Ruskin come last nor to that matter second to last . We ground down the opposition with regular seconds and thirds, most importantly in areas not recently our strong points. The Ruskin junior and intermediate cricket teams in particular bucked the trend coming second and third respectively.
There were however notable victories. The Juniors made their mark ensuring the Manor Trophy was comprehensively retained and followed up by winning the Morriaty cup.
The year 9 and 10 house members were victorious in their football competitions and not to be out done the Seniors won their cross-country. Clearly an all-round effort.
The house’s running strength was evident with a near clean sweep in the cross country, picking up 17 of the 18 points available.
The House was well lead by Thish, Crescent and Luke who were each awarded house ties. At the year end assembly amongst joyous scenes back in the Hall with the Cock House cup Ryan Dansie was awarded a house tie for his athletics contribution, following his winning performances in the 400m and Long Jump for the third year running.
Congratulations however to all in the house for an excellent year.
