EVENTS FOR NEW PUPILS

INITIAL MEETING FOR PUPILS AND PARENTS

Thursday, 27th March 7.30 – 9.00 p.m.

The Headmaster will welcome you and Mr. Mangham, Assistant Head Pastoral, Mrs. Jaffer, Head of Year 7 and Mrs. Marden, Admissions Manager, will talk about some of the practical aspects of transfer to High School.  You will be handed an induction pack.  Members of Year 7 will share their experiences as new pupils.  Refreshments will be served in the Dining Room.

P.T.F.A. BARBECUE

Saturday, 28th June 4.00 p.m. - 7.00 p.m.

The Parents', Teachers' and Friends' Association is organising a barbecue at the school specifically for new parents, their sons and the rest of the family.  There will be activities organised for the new intake including several Inter-house events culminating in the presentation of medals.  This very popular event will run in conjunction with a Year 7 5-a-side football tournament which will give you the opportunity to talk to present Year 7 parents and their sons.  A great time is usually had by all.

OLD WALCOUNTIANS' ASSOCIATION EVENT

Sunday, 6th July – Arrival: 10.00 a.m.

at Clockhouse, Carshalton Road, Woodmansterne

The Old Boys invite all new boys to the first of the OWA's Rugby training sessions which continue through the summer months.  Boys can try their hand at rugby prior to coming to the School. The rugby will take place between 10.30 – 11.30 a.m.  The Purley Walcountians Hockey Club will then hold an exclusive hockey taster session for all the new boys and this will take place between 11.45 a.m. – 12.45 p.m.  The School owns the grounds and makes extensive use of the OWA's facilities.  Parents are invited to use the clubhouse facilities.

FOUR INDUCTION DAYS FOR ALL NEW PUPILS

Monday, 30th June & Tuesday, 1st July

Monday, 14th & Tuesday, 15th July

9.00 a.m. – 3.00 p.m.

It is hoped that all pupils will attend all four of these days of lessons, sporting and practical activities, which will enable the boys to experience Wallington and learn a little about how to get along before their official start in September.  They will mostly spend time in their new forms and get to know their Form Tutor.  Boys should arrive by 9.00 a.m. wearing comfortable clothing and footwear; trainers are probably the most appropriate.  School uniform should not be worn.  They may either bring a packed lunch or money to purchase food in the cafeteria.  A two-course meal including a drink costs about £2.50 and snacks are also available.  More information will follow.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Please note that the Induction Days are normal school days.  The school has limited space for parking and on these occasions only those who are disabled may park on the premises.  Please park with due consideration for our neighbours and avoid The Manor Way opposite because it is narrow, a cul-de-sac and constricted by Sixth Formers’ cars.  If you are coming from the North or the East, there are free car parks in Beddington Park.

BEGINNING OF TERM

Thursday, 4th September 2008
