Pupils at Wallington start their GCSE courses at the beginning of Year 9. From this point the school operates with five forms rather than four and is able to offer up to ten additional places. Clearly, teaching in groups of fewer than thirty is beneficial to students and teachers allowing for more individual attention and support. The additional year spent on the GCSE courses allows for more in depth learning and a broader understanding of their subjects. Key Stage 4 at Wallington is designed to enrich the education of the students through a programme of enrichment activities and Challenge Days designed to build self-esteem, leadership skills and team building.

To be able to sit the Year 9 Entrance Examination candidates must complete the mid-term application form of their own local authority while they are in Year 8 and complete the School’s Year 9 Supplementary Form. The Year 9 Supplementary Form must be completed and returned to the School during the period 1st January 2012 and 1st February 2012.
Those students gaining one of the extra places in Year 9 will need to choose their GCSE options from the range of subjects the school offers during its three year GCSE programme.
