Year 9 Admissions - September 2014
The School starts its GCSE or equivalent courses at the beginning of Year 9 and admits up to an additional fifteen boys into Year 9 on the basis of their ability. Included in this number are any boys with formal statements of special educational needs who meet the School’s Admission Criteria and for whom Wallington County Grammar School is the named school on their statement and meet the School’s Admission Criteria.
The 13+ Entrance Examination is taken by boys who are in Year 8 (born 01.09.2000 – 31.08.2001 inclusive). The School and the London Borough of Sutton co-ordinate mid-term admissions. Applications for the 13+ after 31 August 2013 must be made via the London Borough of Sutton using their mid-term application form. The deadline for the borough to receive the completed mid-term form is 18 December 2013. Boys whose names appear on Sutton’s Year 8 mid-term list on 06 January 2014 will be invited to take the 13+ Entrance Examination which will be held on Tuesday, 14 January 2014.
Admissions Criteria for Year 9 2014.
Boys will be regarded of selective ability according to their performance in the Entrance Examination. In the event that the number of eligible applications exceeds the number of places available, the following criteria will apply, in the order set out below:
a) In rank order of performance in the Entrance Examination;
b) In the event two or more boys have the same rank order and where the admission would exceed the number of places available, places will be allocated in the order of the distance of their homes from the main entrance of Wallington County Grammar School measured in a straight line on a map.
Please note that success in the Entrance Examination does not automatically mean that a place will be offered.

What should I do if I am interested in my son sitting the 13+ Entrance Examination?
You will need to contact the London Borough of Sutton to complete a Mid-Term Form as soon as your son is in Year 8. If you do this before the 31 August 2013 then you will need to contact your home local authority.
What does the 13+ Entrance Examination comprise?
The 13+ Entrance Examination consists of a Mathematics Paper an English Paper and a Verbal Reasoning Paper. All the Examination papers are prepared by the School.
